GuessGap

Game rules

Four games, each with its own modes. Pick one to start with.

Numbers

Players guess a number — the closest one wins

  1. The host shows a question whose answer is a number.
  2. Everyone types their number.
  3. The closer to the truth, the more points.

Modes

The host picks the MODE in the lobby before the start. The mode decides how points are scored and whether there are extra conditions.

  • Standard

The closest to the correct answer gets 1 point.

    🎮 How to play
Everyone enters a number — the closest to the correct answer wins the round.
    🏆 Points
Round winner +1, everyone else 0. A tie gives +1 to each of the closest.
    💡 Tip
You don’t need to be exact — just closer than the others.
  • Sniper

Points for accuracy: exact is 1000, the further off, the less.

    🎮 How to play
Everyone plays for themselves: points depend only on your own error.
    🏆 Points
    Exact — 1000. 10% off — 819, 50% — 368, 100% — 135.
    💡 Tip
Even a rough answer scores — don’t skip questions.
  • Bullseye

An exact hit is 1000; anything less is worth at most 500.

    🎮 How to play
Everyone enters a number, as in Sniper (the closer, the more points), but closeness pays half as much. The full 1000 points only for the exact number.
    🏆 Points
Exact answer — 1000. An inexact one — half of what Sniper would give: 10% off is 410 points, 50% off is 184.
    💡 Tip
Name a specific number, not “somewhere near”: “almost” is worth 500 at most.
  • Blitz

Points for accuracy × how fast you answer.

    🎮 How to play
The round is always 30 seconds. Answer accurately — and as fast as you can.
    🏆 Points
    Sniper points × a speed multiplier: instantly — ×1, at 15 seconds — ×0.65, at 30 — ×0.3.
    ⏱ Time
What counts is the moment you last changed your answer. There’s no pause in this mode.
    🚫 No modifiers
Modifiers don’t apply here, and time can’t be added (+15 s).
    💡 Tip
A fast but wild guess still scores little — accuracy first.
  • Totalizator

Points for accuracy, plus a bet on the round winner from round 3.

    1️⃣ Answer
Everyone starts at 0, like in every mode except Poker. Your own accuracy earns up to 1000 each round.
    2️⃣ Bet
From round 3: stake part of your earned points (500 max per round) on another player — the one you think will answer most accurately.
    📈 Odds
By rank in the standings: leader ×1, second ×2, third ×3… Equal scores, equal odds.
    🏆 Payout
Pick the winner — +stake × odds (500 at ×2 = +1000); a tie for first pays a bet on any of them. Miss — and the stake is gone.
    💸 Zero
Your score never drops below 0. Nothing to stake? Answer accurately and the points come back.
    💡 Tip
Backing an underdog is risky, but it pays the most.
  • Poker

Bet chips — the closest answer takes the pot.

    🎮 The table
Everyone has 1000 chips — and chips are the points. At the start of each hand everyone puts in an entry bet, the ante (10 chips; the host can raise it).
    1️⃣ Blind betting
The question is still hidden. In turn, everyone chooses: check, raise or fold; once someone raises — call, raise again or fold.
    2️⃣ Answer
The question is revealed — enter your number in secret. Once the second betting round starts, you can no longer change it. No answer — you fold automatically, and what you put in stays in the pot.
    3️⃣ Second betting round
One more lap: check, call, raise or fold. The bet cap is everything the poorest player still in the hand can put in.
    ⏱ Turns
Each turn lasts as long as the round timer. Out of time — a check if it’s free, otherwise an automatic fold.
    🏆 Pot
Everyone who hasn’t folded reveals their answer — the closest takes the whole pot (a tie splits it). If only one player is left, they take the pot without revealing.
    💸 Broke
Can’t afford the ante — you sit the hand out. Once per game you can sell your underpants 🩲 — to players at your own price or to the bank for 1000.
    💡 Tip
Bluff: a confident bet makes others fold.
  • Pirate

Points for accuracy, then duels: the closer player takes the rival’s points.

    1️⃣ Answer
Up to 1000 for your own accuracy. Nobody can see anyone else’s points or accuracy.
    2️⃣ Duels
Challenge 1-on-1 anyone who answered and hasn’t fought yet. Whoever is closer to the correct answer takes all of the rival’s round points (the attacker risks theirs too). Lose — 0, and you can’t attack any more. A tie changes nothing.
    🏳️ Buy-out
The target may refuse: they give the attacker 25% of their answer points and can’t attack any more. The attacker’s attack is spent too. 10 seconds to decide — stay silent and the fight starts automatically.
    📏 Limits
One attack by you and one attack on you per round. Duels run at the same time. No rematches with the same rival. Don’t want to attack? Tap “I’m done”.
    ⏱ Time
20 seconds at the start, then every attack keeps the window open: 10 quiet seconds with no duels and it closes (even in a round without a timer). Don’t wait it out.
    💡 Tip
Attack when you’re confident — or bluff: nobody can see the others’ accuracy.
  • Greedy Belly

Multiply your points by opening boxes — but one hides a bomb.

    1️⃣ Answer
Up to 1000 for your own accuracy.
    2️⃣ Boxes
Everyone gets their own 6 boxes, one with a bomb. The multiplier on your points grows with each safe box: 1st — ×1.15, 2nd — ×1.35, 3rd — ×1.7, 4th — ×2.2, 5th — ×3 (the max). You can bank at any time — even without opening a single box (×1).
    💣 Bomb
Your round points burn to 0. Your total score is untouched.
    ⏱ All at once
Everyone opens at the same time, and the host ends the phase. Whoever hasn’t stopped keeps what they have.
    💡 Tip
Open all five boxes — points ×3; hit the bomb — your points burn.
  • Chaos

Points for accuracy, then everyone takes a turn opening one box out of four — and anything can be inside: ×2, a steal, a swap or a burn (about 12 effects).

    🎮 How to play
Everyone answers and earns accuracy points (as in Sniper, up to 1000). Then everyone takes a turn opening ONE box out of four. No answer — no box and no points.
    🎯 Turn order
The worst answer goes first, the closest one goes last: it sees how the round played out, and nobody can change anything after it. Each turn has 15 seconds — run out and a box opens by itself.
    🎁 What’s inside
Four DIFFERENT effects out of twelve, all equally likely. Good: ✨ ×2, 💎 +100/+250/+500, 🗡️ ¼ of a chosen player’s points go to you, 🛡️ a shield against other boxes. Bad: 🔥 points → 0, ✂️ half gone, ➖ −250, 💝 ¼ of yours goes to a player you choose. Chaotic: 🔄 swap points with a player you choose, 🪙 ×2 or 0, 🙃 “1000 minus yours”, 💨 empty.
    🎯 Who hits whom
You pick the target of 🗡️, 💝 and 🔄 — with a separate 10 seconds for it; if you don’t pick, a random target is chosen. Anyone under 🛡️ can’t be picked. Only one possible target — the effect hits it straight away.
    🏁 The end
Everything only affects this round’s points — your total never goes down.

Modifiers

An extra rule on top of the mode. The host turns on one modifier or none; they only work in 🥇 Standard, 🎯 Sniper and 💥 Bullseye.

  • Streaks

Several wins in a row and your points multiply: ×2, ×3, ×4…

    ⚙️ What it changes
Whoever wins rounds in a row (answers closest each time) has their round points multiplied by the streak length: first win ×1, second ×2, third ×3, and so on with no limit. Lose a round or don’t answer — the streak ends.
    📍 Works in
    🥇 Standard, 🎯 Sniper, 💥 Bullseye.
  • Confidence wager

Pick a ×1–×3 multiplier for your answer: hit it well and your points grow; miss and they’re deducted.

    ⚙️ What it changes
Along with your answer, you pick a confidence wager: ×1, ×2 or ×3. You can change your mind while the round is running.
    🏆 Points
    A good answer (400 points or more) is multiplied by the wager: 700 at ×3 gives 2100. A weak one (under 400) is penalized: at ×2, 400 is subtracted; at ×3, 800. For example, 300 at ×3 = 300 − 800 = −500.
    📏 In Standard
Here “good” means a win: win at ×3 — 3 points, lose — minus 2.
    🙅 No penalty
Didn’t answer — just 0. Your total never drops below 0.
    📍 Works in
    🥇 Standard, 🎯 Sniper, 💥 Bullseye.
  • Careful

Answer above the correct one — 0 points for the round.

    ⚙️ What it changes
If your answer is higher than the correct one, your round points burn and you can’t win: the round goes to the closest answer among those who didn’t go over. A lower or exact answer isn’t affected.
    📍 Works in
    🥇 Standard, 🎯 Sniper, 💥 Bullseye.
    💡 Tip
Better to guess slightly low than to go over.
  • Team mode

2 teams: a team’s score is its players’ average.

    ⚙️ What it changes
Players are automatically split into 🔴 Red and 🔵 Blue. You can switch teams only in the lobby. Everyone answers individually, as usual.
    🏆 Win
A team’s result is its players’ AVERAGE score, so teams of 3 and 5 play on equal terms. The team with the higher average wins.
    📍 Works in
    🥇 Standard, 🎯 Sniper, 💥 Bullseye.

Play solo

No host, no room: pick a board in the Community or one of your own and play on your own.

  • Solo

Play a board alone and compare your score with others.

    🎮 How to play
Pick a board in the Community or one of your own. 30 seconds per question, and the correct answer shows right away.
    🏆 Points
Like Sniper: up to 1000 per question.
    📊 Result
Your score, your rank on the board’s leaderboard and the % of players you beat. Your best attempt counts.
    🔐 You need
    An account.

Fair play: the host can see if you leave the tab during a round or open developer tools. The correct answer isn’t on your device — the server only sends it once answers are closed.

Words

Players type a word — the host marks ✓ or ✗

  1. A question whose answer is a word.
  2. Everyone writes their own answer.
  3. The host flips the cards and decides whether each answer is right or not.

Modes

The host picks one in the lobby — card ② “Mode”.

  • Classic

✓ = 1 point, ✗ or no answer = 0. Speed doesn’t matter: everyone who answers correctly gets points.

    🎮 How to play
Each question is a round of its own: players write their answers, and the host flips the cards and marks them ✓ or ✗.
    🏆 Points
    ✓ — 1 point, ✗ and silence — 0. Most points wins.
    🏁 Final
If the board has a “list them” final, it comes at the end: every accepted item is 1 more point.
  • Elimination

A miss or silence costs a ❤️. No ❤️ left — you are out. Whoever lasts longest wins.

    ❤️ Lives
The host picks them in the lobby: 1, 2, 3 or 5. ✗ and silence take one.
    🍀 Everyone missed
If nobody still in the game got it right, nobody loses a life.
    💀 Out
With no ❤️ left, a player watches the screen, votes when the room decides and reacts.
    🏆 The end
One player left — the game ends at once. Out of questions — more ❤️ ranks higher, and on a tie, more ✓.
    ⏰ Latecomers
A late joiner starts with the fewest ❤️ among those still in the game.
  • Ladder

✓ — one step up. A miss or silence — down to the safe step: every 5th. The highest one wins.

    🪜 Steps
As many as the board has questions. Everyone starts at the bottom.
    ↑ Up
    ✓ — one step higher.
    ↓ Down
✗ and silence — to the last safe step: 5th, 10th… Below the 5th — all the way down. Standing on a safe step, you stay there.
    🏆 The end
After the last question the highest player wins. A tie goes to more ✓.
  • Letter by letter

The answer’s letters open on their own. One answer only: ✓ is worth as many points as letters are still hidden.

    🔤 Letters
The answer opens on its own, one letter at a time, in a random order — the same on the screen and on every device. The last letter never opens by itself.
    ✍️ One answer
You can answer only once: first “Submit”, then “Yes, that’s my answer”. No changes after that.
    🎯 Points
✓ is worth as many points as letters were still hidden at the moment you answered (at least 1). ✗ and silence give 0. Risk it early — score more.
    ⏱️ Time
A timer is required: the letters open over the time for the question, and ⏸️ pause stops them. No final and no 💡 hint.
    🏆 The end
Most points wins; on a tie, more ✓.
  • Crack it

Don’t know the answer? Open letters one at a time. A hit is free, a miss costs 10 points out of a hundred.

    🔓 Letters
You open them yourself, one per try, and everyone has their own mask — nobody sees anyone else’s letters. A hit opens that letter at EVERY place it occurs in the word.
    💥 Miss
A letter that isn’t in the word costs 10 points. A hit is free: you pay only for mistakes.
    🎯 Points
Each question starts at 100 points and the price never falls below 10. ✗ and silence score 0, so answering always beats staying quiet.
    ✍️ One answer
You answer only once: first «Answer», then «Yes, send it». After that the round is closed for you — no more letters, no changes.
    🏆 Finish
Most points wins; a tie goes to whoever has more ✓. The timer is optional, and there is no 💡 hint and no final round.

Play solo

No host, no room: pick a board in the Community or one of your own and play on your own.

  • Solo

Play a board alone and compare your score with others.

    🎮 How to play
Pick a Words board in the Community or one of your own and type your answer. 30 seconds per question; the next one opens when you press “Next”.
    ✅ What counts
The board’s answer or another accepted spelling — letter case and diacritics don’t matter. One typo in a word of 5+ letters (two from 10 letters) counts too and is marked “≈ with a typo”. Number answers allow no typos: “1985” is not “1984”.
    🏆 Points
1 point per question — a result like “7 of 10”. Solo has no “list them” final.
    📊 Result
Your rank on the board’s leaderboard and the % of players you beat. Your best attempt counts.
    🔐 You need
    An account.

Extras

Work in most modes: the final is Classic only, and the 💡 hint doesn’t work in “Letter by letter”.

  • Final “list them”

At the end players write a list and the host judges every item. Only in 🎯 Classic and only if the board has a final.

  • The room decides

The host hands a disputed card to the room: 10 seconds, everyone votes except the card’s authors.

  • One letter

Once per question the host can reveal the first letter of the answer — to everyone at once.

  • Names on cards

The host decides when the screen shows who wrote a card: right away, after the verdict or never.

Options

They pick one of four — points count themselves

  1. A question and four answer options, A–D.
  2. Everyone picks theirs on their own device.
  3. The host reveals the right one — points count themselves.

Modes

The host picks one in the lobby — card ② “Mode”.

  • Classic

✓ = 1 point, ✗ or no answer = 0. Speed doesn’t matter: everyone who answers correctly gets points.

    🎮 How to play
Every question comes with four options, A–D. While the clock runs, pick one — and change it if you have second thoughts. Once time is up or the host closes answering, the right one is revealed with a button and the players’ devices show ✓ or ✗.
    🏆 Points
✓ — 1 point, ✗ and silence — 0. Most points wins. Options has no “list them” final.
  • Elimination

A miss or silence costs a ❤️. No ❤️ left — you are out. Whoever lasts longest wins.

    ❤️ Lives

Play solo

No host, no room: pick a board in the Community or one of your own and play on your own.

  • Solo

Play a board alone and compare your score with others.

    🎮 How to play
Pick an Options board in the Community or one of your own. 30 seconds per question and four options, in a new order every time.
    👆 Answer
A tap picks an option — you can change your mind. It counts when you press “Submit”; out of time — the question doesn’t count.
    🏆 Points
    1 point per correct option — a result like “7 of 10”.
    📊 Result
Your rank on the board’s leaderboard and the % of players you beat. Your best attempt counts.
    🔐 You need
    An account.

Extras

Works in every mode.

  • The same options for everyone

The A–D options are identical on the screen and on every device, and their order changes with every question.

  • Change your mind

While the clock runs you can change your answer — the last tap counts.

Auction

Players bid on lots — the room picks the best set

  1. Lots come up one at a time.
  2. Players bid and build their own set.
  3. The room votes for the best set.

How the bidding goes

The Auction has no modes — just bidding, sets and a vote.

  • Budget and set

The host enters the money and the set size in the lobby ($20 and 4 lots by default), already seeing how many players showed up. The board only brings the task and the lots.

  • One tap, one bid

+1, +2 or +5 on top of the current bid. The leader can’t outbid themselves, and spending everything on one lot is allowed.

  • Lot clock

When the bids go quiet, the clock runs out and “Going once… going twice… last call…” begins. Any bid stops the count.

  • Hammer

The host can bring the 🔨 down early or withdraw a lot that has no bids. ⏸️ pauses the bidding.

  • Surprise lot

What’s inside a 🎁 shows only when the hammer falls.

  • Vote

At the end the room picks the best set. You can’t vote for yourself; late joiners watch and vote. Anyone short of a full set still votes, but their set can’t be picked.

  • Awards

Big Spender, Penny Pincher, Snatched It, Bargain Hunter — plus ⭐ Most Valuable Set if the author rated the lots.

  • Groups only

There is no solo here: without rivals every lot would go for $1, and nobody would be left to pick the winner.

VS

A question and two options — which one?

  1. Take a ready board or write your own: a question, two sides with numbers and, if you like, photos.
  2. The room picks one of the two cards — on a phone they sit side by side, just like on screen.
  3. Guess right and the chain grows, each link worth more. The longest one stays as the board record.

How it plays

No modes here — one rule for the whole game.

  • The chain

A correct question pays 100 × the length of your chain: the first is 100, the second in a row 200, the third 300. A miss or silence burns the CHAIN to zero — the points you earned stay, the next link is simply worth 100 again. Nobody is eliminated here.

  • Two options

A question and two sides — nothing more. The right one is the side with the BIGGER number; when the question asks the other way round ("who is younger?"), a "smaller wins" pill sits next to it. You can change your pick while the clock runs, and equal numbers count for everyone.

  • Photos of the sides

Each side can carry its own picture — that is what the TV and every phone show. A photo is optional: without one, the side is its name on a colored plate, and that color is always the same for the same name.

  • Streak awards

Two in a row is ✌️ Double, three is 🎩 Hat-trick, five is 🔥 On fire, seven is 🏅 Master, ten is 👑 Godlike. After that the award repeats every five links. It adds no points: it is a moment for the room.

  • Too close to call

When the numbers differ by less than 10%, the question is labeled "too close to call". It changes no points — those questions are simply the best ones.

  • Board record

The longest chain a room makes stays on the board forever: the next group sees it on screen before the first question.

  • The board is questions

The author writes a question and two sides: a name, a number and (optionally) a photo. The unit can be set for the whole board or per side. The game shuffles the order of the sides itself, so do not name them in the question text.

  • Groups only

No solo in this game yet: it is about a room split into two camps.

The host picks the game, the board and the mode in the lobby. 🏁 Solo — any time: in Numbers, Words and Options.
